Marvel has never been so cruel
If you believe the first reviews, you should definitely take tissues with you to the cinema when watching Guardians of the Galaxy 3. The first reports in the trade press are euphoric.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3: “Darker and with a touch of horror”
Next week, Marvel returns to cinemas with a blockbuster that many fans have been waiting for: Guardians of the Galaxy 3 ends the story of the space gang, but that’s not the only reason fans should have tissues ready. The first critics have already been able to immerse themselves in the film and are not only enthusiastic, but also surprised – the film is said to be darker and, above all, sadder than expected.
The Spanish critic Jesús Agudo, for example, reports that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 quite surprised him:
“I already had some idea of #GuardiansoftheGalaxy3 and James Gunn really surprised me quite a bit. The film is darker and even has a touch of horror, but he’s also really funny and has a lot of personality. Rocket and Nebula outdo each other with a very dignified farewell.” (Source: Twitter)
So is Ian Sandwell from British film magazine Digital Spy full of praise:
“Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is the brilliant end to a brilliant trilogy. The film is very funny, emotional and everyone gets their own climax. Will Poulter’s Warlock is a great addition, yet the focus is rightly on giving the Guardians a satisfying ending. I will miss her.” (Source: Twitter)
Spanish journalist Valentina Morillo even compares Guardians of the Galaxy 3 to Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame:
“It’s a perfect and wonderful farewell to the characters and the saga. The best Marvel movie since Endgame (it’s in the MCU’s top 3).” (Source: Twitter)

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is part of Marvel Phase 5 and marks the end of the Guardians series. Not only does Rocket face life-threatening danger in the film, but new villains also step into the limelight: High Evolutionary, whose genetic experiments were also responsible for Scarlet Witch, and Adam Warlock. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will be released in German cinemas on May 3, 2023 (and yes, you can already pre-order tickets).
