Macro mode on iPhone 13 Pro gets even better
The macro mode of the iPhone 13 Pro is very impressive. We can now see the world up close. However, there is a drawback to Apple’s macro mode: it switches on and off automatically. That can be very irritating and many people complained about it. Fortunately, Apple has listened to the feedback – in iOS 15.2, users will be able to access a macro mode switch in the camera app.
Thanks to the switch, macro mode can now be switched on and off manually. It was already possible in iOS 15.1 to turn macro mode on and off via the settings app, but that was quite a detour. The new switch is a lot more accessible and looks like a flower. In the photography world, a flower is a symbol for macro photography.
The switch won’t appear until you hold your iPhone’s lens close to an object, just like before. The difference is that the iPhone no longer automatically switches to macro mode. You can now do that yourself by tapping the switch. Also important to know: in order to see the new switch appear, you need to disable ‘automatic switch to macro mode’ in the settings app. It goes like this:
- Go to the settings app on your iPhone 13 Pro (Max)
- Scroll down and tap “Camera”
- Scroll down again and toggle ‘Autom. macro off
Did you do this? Then in iOS 15.2, you’ll see the macro switch appear at the bottom left of the screen when you’re shooting something up close.
More about iOS 15.2
iOS 15.2 is the next major iOS 15 update. The update brings a lot of innovations. For example, there is the Digital Legacy (digital legacy), where you can designate people as ‘Legacy’ contacts. They will have access to your account and personal information after your death.
A number of new privacy features are also coming to the iPhone, such as the ‘hide my email address’ function. In iOS 15.2, this feature is expanded as it comes to the Mail app. Users can tap the ‘From’ field and choose the ‘Hide my email’ option. This way you can create a random e-mail address, where e-mails are automatically forwarded to your personal inbox.
iOS 15.2 is expected to be installed sometime in late November. Do you want to know immediately when the update is available? Please sign up for our daily/weekly newsletter. In addition, download the free iPhoned app and keep an eye on our website.
