Apple is rumored to be developing a special version of macOS for the iPad Pro with M2. In 2023 you will then be able to use macOS on your tablet.

Read on after the ad.

macOS coming to iPad

Twittter user Majin Bu is certainly no stranger to Apple rumors. For example, he already shared the iPhone 14 cases before the new device was announced.

Now he says that Apple is developing a special version of macOS for the iPad. This slightly different version of macOS is then specific for the iPad Pro 2022 with M2 chip.

He also says that the underlying system is macOS, but the apps you run are those of the iPad. So it’s not a “full-fledged” version of macOS. In addition, he also says that the interface will be about 25 percent larger. Probably to work better with the iPad’s touch controls.

iPadOS is increasingly moving towards macOS

Apple has of course been working on bringing more and more macOS-like features to the iPad for some time. Think, for example, of Stage Manager, the function that will soon come in iPadOS 16.1. This allows you to switch between different programs more easily and multi-task even better. Just like you would on a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.

Whether a version of macOS will actually come to the iPad remains to be seen. But it’s obvious that iPadOS is starting to resemble macOS more and more.

More about the iPad Pro 2022 with M2

The biggest innovations of the iPad Pro 2022 are under the hood. For example, the Pro tablet now has a super-fast M2 chip. This chip is also in the MacBook Air 2022.

Furthermore, the WiFi connection of the iPad Pro has been renewed, so that a speed of 2.4 Gb/s is now possible. Another innovation can be found with the Apple Pencil 2. This is already detected on the new iPad Pro at about 12 mm above the screen.

The iPad Pro 2022 is for sale from € 1,069. You do have the smaller 11-inch version. It also lacks the special mini-LED screen.
