macOS 13: Time Machine linked to iCloud and a new AirPort terminal?

As much as there have been several leaks around the new features of iOS 16, those around macOS 13 are light. But if we are to believe new rumors, one of the novelties will concern Time Machine and iCloud.

A possible Time Machine and iCloud combo with macOS 13

Time Machine is Apple’s backup software for Macs. It is thus possible to regularly make a backup of your Mac and use it later to restore data. This is handy if for some reason X or Y the Mac crashes and needs a reset. Data can be retrieved from the backup.

Currently, Time Machine requires a device (external hard drive or SSD) to perform the backup. If we are to believe MajinBuOfficial, macOS 13 will add an option to allow relying on iCloud. Thus, it would be possible to save data on Apple’s servers and no longer necessarily depend on an external hard drive. A simple Internet connection would suffice to send and repatriate its data.

MajinBuOfficial has already had some leaks regarding products, including accessories. But his information about macOS 13 is to be taken with a grain of salt because few people are really aware of what’s new in future major Mac software updates. But after all, linking Time Machine and iCloud might make sense, especially since Apple is looking to sell more subscriptions and that would be one way to do that here.

The return of the AirPort terminal?

On the other hand, Apple would prepare at least a new terminal AirPort. Apple announced that it would stop selling this range in April 2018, but it could be back. In April 2021, the manufacturer had registered references for new AirPort terminals. At least one model may well be available this year.

Apple will officially introduce macOS 13 on June 6 during the WWDC opening keynote. There will also be iOS 16, watchOS 9 and tvOS 16.
