macOS 11.6.1 is available for developers
Apple is making macOS 11.6.1 available today, but only for developers. It seems to be a beta or a release candidate (this remains to be confirmed). This version arrives in any case two weeks after the release of macOS 11.6 for everyone.
A surprise with macOS 11.6.1
Apple is not very talkative about the changes with the new version. The manufacturer indicates that the update “Improves safety”… and that’s all. It is in any case strange that this version is offered to developers as a beta or release candidate. Apple usually offers such updates without going through a testing phase with the developers.
There is no release date yet for the final version of macOS 11.6.1. But we can easily imagine that it will be for the next few days. It would be surprising if Apple embarks on a long testing phase for such a version.
If your Mac is configured to receive developer betas, go to System Preferences and click on the Software Update section. You will then be able to download macOS 11.6.1.
Note that Apple also offers another beta for macOS Catalina users. Again, this is for developers and it focuses on security updates.
