MacBook Air delivery times are rising: new model is coming
The delivery times of Apple’s current MacBook Air are increasing considerably. Does this mean we’ll be seeing a new model at WWDC?
Read on after the ad.
Apple Announces MacBook Air 2022 at WWDC
On June 6th it’s time! We already know that Apple is announcing iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, and MacOS 13 that day. We are not so sure about a number of other things. There have been rumors for months about a new MacBook Air with a refreshed design. What seems? The current MacBook Air has been extremely difficult to obtain since this week. That means supplies are running out and Apple will most likely announce a new version of the laptop very soon.
The increasing delivery times on Apple’s website have often indicated the arrival of a new device in the past. The manufacturer naturally wants to keep as few ‘old’ laptops as possible as soon as it launches a new model. That’s why Apple is scaling production early and delivery times are rising significantly just before the announcement of a new device.
However, Apple is struggling with delivery problems due to the ongoing lockdowns in China. This particularly affects the latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros. Perhaps the MacBook Air is now also the loser and the delivery times are therefore increasing. However, we set our sights on a new model, which is a lot more fun.
More about the new Apple laptop
A lot is already known about the updated MacBook Air. According to well-known Apple analyst Mark Gurman, the MacBook Air 2022 will get a new M2 chip under the hood. This is especially in the GPU area a bit more powerful than the M1 chip. The current MacBook Air has a graphics chip with seven or eight cores. The new M2 will get nine or ten, according to Gurman.
The laptop will also get a completely new design – if we are to believe the rumors. The device apparently gets white screen edges and a notch. We also expect an aluminum housing in multiple colors, such as green, blue, pink and silver.
