Lynx R1: the XR glasses from the French startup will (finally) be delivered in June-July
The first orders of Lynx R1the XR (mixed reality) glasses of the startup french Lynx, will not be honored in April as initially planned. When Game Developer Conference 2022the CEO of Lynx Stan Larroque announced that concerns about the supply chain required shifting the delivery period of the very first models until June-July.
The hardware is ready, the software part too, but Stan Larroque affirms that there is still a little work on the SDK (Lynx R1 development platform). The latter will run on OpenXR, the standard for mixed reality devices.
As a reminder, the Lynx R1 is a mixed reality headset-glasses equipped with two screens with unprecedented optics (1600 x 1600 per eye, 90 Hz and 90° FoV), a Qualcomm XR2 chip supported by 6 GB of RAM and a storage capacity of 128 GB (expandable to 1 TB on microSD support. It is still possible to pre-order the Lynx R1 on the manufacturer’s website. The Lynx R1 CLASSIC model is billed at around 700 euros (including tax + shipping costs) while the Lynx R1 Pro model is offered at around 1300 euros (including tax + shipping costs).
