LinkedIn ends Stories, just like Twitter
LinkedIn has decided to put an end to stories, this system to have ephemeral photos and videos. The concept was democratized by Snapchat. Everyone (or almost) has copied the social network since.
On his site, LinkedIn announcement that he will withdraw the stories by the end of September, without giving a precise date. Here is what the social network says:
We implemented Stories last year as a fun, casual way to share videos quickly. We have learned a lot. Now, we’re taking these learnings to evolve the story format into a reimagined video experience through LinkedIn that’s even richer and more conversational. We want to embrace mixed media and creative story tools consistently across our platform, while working to integrate them more closely with your professional identity.
Why this stopping of stories? LinkedIn explains that it initially thought that informal profile videos weren’t necessarily of interest to users. The platform therefore liked the story system and the ephemeral side. But it seems that success is not there, hence the abandonment.
There will be new things in the future. “In fact, you want to create lasting videos that tell your professional story in a more personal way and that showcase your personality and expertise.”, says LinkedIn. To see how it will materialize.
LinkedIn joins Twitter in any case. The social network has also abandoned the concept of stories, which were called Fleets. It’s been a few weeks now. Who will be the next one ?
