lighter version of your mailbox
Microsoft has announced a lighter version of its popular email app called Outlook Lite. The app should work more smoothly on phones with less powerful specifications and in places with a less good mobile network. At the moment Outlook Lite is not yet available in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Microsoft Outlook Lite
You have Android phones in all possible price ranges. Some users pay less than 100 euros for their new smartphone, and then you have devices that cost 1,799 euros. We are not talking about a foldable phone. Microsoft has launched an app with Outlook Lite that is completely aimed at phones with less powerful specifications and network speeds, according to a blog post.
Outlook Lite includes the core features of the original app: your emails, contacts, calendar, and more. Still, this app only takes up 5MB of storage space. This makes Outlook Lite also interesting for those who have a fast device, but just want to save storage space. In addition, Microsoft has optimized the app in particular for smartphones that only have 1 GB of RAM available, and the app should therefore also consume less of your battery. Finally, the developer also took into account the slower speeds for mobile internet that can be in emerging markets. Outlook Lite therefore works smoothly with 2G and 3G internet.
Those who want to try Outlook Lite will have to be patient, because the app is currently being tested in a select number of countries, including Mexico, India, Brazil and South Africa. It is not yet known when Microsoft will expand that availability.
