Developers from the Charles Games studio have announced that their upcoming game Freedom 1945: Liberation will be released on August 3. At the same time, this information is accompanied by a new really nice trailer, thanks to which you will get a much better idea of its appearance and playability. “You will see all parts of the game – FMV interviews, interactive interviews, scenes with period materials and minigames,” said Ondřej Trhoň from Charles Games.
“Of course, that’s only a fraction of what you’ll find in the game in August. There is no lack of a mini-game of collectivization, in which you, as a farmer, will resist advancing communist totalitarianism, historically faithful development of photos or a number of other characters whose fates you will discover in your search for a village on the Czech-German border, “he added.
The game is aimed at both PC and Mac, offers a Czech interface and dubbing, and already has a profile on Steam. It is the successor of the successful adventure Attentat 1942. In Svoboda, however, we will immerse ourselves in the events of the end of World War II, indirectly experience the expulsion of the Germans and the characters will also remember the communists coming to power in Czechoslovakia. All this against the backdrop of a personal story in which the protagonist reveals the dark secret of his own family.
Although the title tells the fictional story of a fictional village, it is inspired by real events and people. We have already thoroughly imagined the game several times, talked to its authors and tried it out at Gamescom in 2019. In our opinion, Svoboda 1945 promises a thrilling story, emotional acting performances, a very strong message and an educational dimension. And yet it is not a boring encyclopedia, but a fun act, in the performance of which one gets to know our own history.
Freedom can show us how age-old wrongs and seemingly ancient events can affect interpersonal relationships even today. Originally, the game was to be released in the first quarter of 2020. It is powered by the Unity engine. You can find more details about it in our older articles.
