Legendary manufacturer is finally getting started

When you think of electric cars, the first thing that comes to mind is Tesla as the name associated with electric cars. In the meantime, many well-known manufacturers have long since started their electrical initiatives. One, however, is only now getting started with the first Stromer. The legendary manufacturer is predestined to make a name for itself again with e-cars – right now.

What does an electric car need? No compromises compared to the combustion engine, an affordable price, decent range and fast charging – all important. But a look at the market reveals: Currently, part of the recipe for success for e-cars is that they like to be SUV may be. This is exactly what a manufacturer is now bringing out that many don’t really have on their watch.

Subaru sends first e-cars into the race

With the Solterra model, Subaru has launched its first electric car on the European market. The electric SUV is available from the dealers, it says in one Message. Starting price are proud 57,490 euros. Among other things, there is a WLTP range of up to 466 km, fast charging with up to 150 kW and a 30-minute charging stop to charge the 71.4 kWh battery from 10 to 80 percent. A 360-degree camera coverage is standard, as is a 12.3-inch touchscreen.

Lease an e-car and collect an environmental bonus

Two electric motors, one each on the front and rear axles, provide the all wheel drivethat Subaru is known for. For years, the automaker has sold the most passenger cars with all-wheel drive in the world, they are, in a way, Subaru’s traditional hobbyhorse. This gives Subaru expertise in a function that is finding favor with the lifestyle off-road vehicle called SUV like seldom before.

The Solterra from Subaru is not a bargain, but the price comparison with combustion engines for electric cars is so important:

Toyota relatives: a millstone for Subaru Solterra?

Actually, nothing stands in the way of a breakthrough. But Subaru will probably in this country persuasion have to afford. Because the Subaru Solterra shares the e-TNGA platform with the bZ4X from Toyota. However, the technical – and also externally obvious – similarity is not a seal of quality. The e-SUV had to be recalled worldwide and production halted due to problems with loose wheels. Only recently did Toyota get the error under control again. The later start of Subaru could therefore rub off – or have ensured that any problems were examined all the more critically.
