Leaked: We’ll have to wait even longer for Battlefield 2042!

Bad things are being whispered in the corridors, because reliable sources say that Battlefield 2042 is being postponed.

Fans of the Battlefield franchise may have to muster a good portion of extra patience. Today, several reliable sources report that Battlefield 2042 is being postponed. For now, the release date is still October 11. The game will be released on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. An open beta is expected to take place sometime this month, but no official date has yet been communicated.

Battlefield 2042 postponed?

According to very reliable tasty Tom Henderson, Battlefield 2042 will be released a few weeks later than originally planned. He is talking about the end of November, which is at least a good month later than initially intended. Henderson published the first leaked screenshots of the upcoming game last month. He also managed to report datamined information early.

If it’s true, the game can still be on our list of the hottest games for this fall, but it has to give the first to Call of Duty: Vanguard. The two are traditionally strong competitors and DICE initially had a small month lead. Now many gamers are still deep in Vanguard in November when Battlefield 2042 comes out.

Henderson is not alone in claiming that Battlefield 2042 will be delayed. An journalist from Venturebeat said on Twitter: “Welcome to the season of delays” without further explanation. He later joined a Discord group about Battlefield 2042, Eurogamer details.

Battlefield 2042 has yet to get an open beta this month, but that may come later. The first technical alpha was quite a mess. That’s part of an alpha, of course, and DICE said it was an old build of the game. Nevertheless, gamers already questioned the state of the game at the time.
