Qualcomm has officially announced its latest high-end chipset. The chipset is expected in several high-end premium smartphones in the coming months. The new chipset from the manufacturer has been given the name Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

As the successor of the Snapdragon 888, here is the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This Qualcomm chipset is one that we will see in the more expensive premium smartphones in the near future. Several manufacturers will purchase this processor from the brand and place it in their flagship. It is expected that OnePlus will use it in the OnePlus 10 (Pro), Xiaomi with the Xiaomi 12 and we may also see it in smartphones from other brands, such as Motorola, that may send the Edge X30 with this chipset.

Qualcomm gives a lot of technical details, which you can find in the photo below. It is baked at 4nm and used new architecture for the best qualities. The primary core is a Cortex-X2 and provides a processing power of 3.0 GHz. Compared to the Snapdragon 888, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 should get a CPU that is 20 percent faster. Qualcomm also promises to reduce power consumption by 30 percent. There is a focus on better performance and energy consumption during gaming and there are also optimizations for the camera. For example, facial recognition should be even faster via the selfie camera and other optimizations have also been made in the camera area.

The first new devices with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will be made official this year.
