‘Both iPhone 15 and AirPods get USB-C’

According to the reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will release the new versions of the AirPods charging cases with USB-C next year. There have been rumors for some time that Apple plans to switch to USB-C with the iPhone 15 next year.

According to all expectations, we will see the launch of the AirPods Pro 2 this fall. Unfortunately, the accompanying charging box will not get a USB-C connector. Even the latest AirPods (the AirPods 3) still have the classic Lightning port for charging.

Kuo: usb-c charging boxes AirPods are universal

Kuo reports in his tweet that Apple will bring the boxes with USB-C on the market in 2023. These charging boxes with USB-C are then suitable for all AirPods earphones. In 2023, in addition to new charging boxes for AirPods, we can also expect the iPhone 15 with USB-C.

Earlier this month, Kuo also expected even more Apple accessories to make the switch to USB-C. He then talked about the Magic Keyboard, the Magic Trackpad and the Magic Mouse for the Mac, among other things.

When Apple switches to USB-C with the iPhone 15 in 2023, all other accessories will also make the switch. This will eventually mean the end of the Lightning connector. The Lightning connection is also secretly almost ‘expired’.

Why is Apple now switching to USB-C?

It now seems to be gaining momentum: Apple is still embracing the USB-c connection. This is partly due to the European Union. This has been working for a while to label USB-C as a ‘standard connection’ for mobile devices.

The new law should ensure that you only need one cable to power all your devices. And that is of course for the durability of the electronic devices.

For Apple, however, there are even more advantages to the introduction of USB-C. With this connection, the devices can handle more current and therefore charge at higher speeds. The EU is also working with this law to ensure that fast charging technologies are at the same level.
