Lapsus$: 2 teenagers in court, accused of being part of the hacker group

Two teenagers in the UK have appeared in Highbury Corner Juvenile Court in London on charges of cyber crimes, in connection with the hacker group Lapsus$. According to BBCthe teenagers (two boys aged 16 and 17) were released on bail, subject to certain conditions.

Lapsus$ hackers are in the sights of the authorities

They were arrested as part of an international police investigation into Lapsus$, which successfully hacked Microsoft, Samsung, Nvidia, Ubisoft and Okta. In a statement, City of London Police Detective Inspector Michael O’Sullivan said the two teenagers are charged with three counts of unauthorized access to a computer with intent to harm reliability of the data, one count of fraud by misrepresentation and one count of unauthorized access to a computer with the intent to interfere with access to the data. The 16-year-old was also charged with one count of causing a computer to perform a function to ensure unauthorized access to a program.

Two weeks ago, the London police arrested seven teenagers, still linked to the hacker group Lapsus$. They are between 16 and 21 years old. The mastermind of the pirate group is said to be a 16-year-old living in Oxford, England with his parents. The father said he was unaware of his son’s activities.
