It single-handedly blocks the North Korean internet… in retaliation for cyber-attacks

North Korea’s Internet is one of the most locked down in the world, and yet a few weeks ago the country’s intranet ruled with an iron (or rather titanium) hand by Kim Jong Un suffered several series of breakdowns. We now know the origin of these network blockages, and it is hard to believe: an American with the pseudonym P4x would have managed to block a number of sites in North Korea by himself via targeted DDOS attacks (attacks by denied service).

P4x justifies its attacks… by its desire for revenge! Indeed, shortly before attacking the North Korean internet, P4x had itself suffered cyber-attacks from North Korea, like many other American security researchers during this period. Unfortunately for the hackers in the pay of Kim Jong-un, the target of the day was this time a high-flying computer scientist… and with a tenacious grudge.

P4x nevertheless specifies that it did not want to penalize the North Korean people; it was all about sending a clear message to government hackers. The security researcher also believes that the US government has not taken adequate measures to guard against attacks from North Korea or any other sufficiently motivated country with good level hackers…
