iPhone SE: 5G in 2022 and new design in 2024
Apple will offer a new iPhone SE in 2022 and it should be a simple improvement in components, including support for 5G, according to Dylandkt. The leaker thus joins previously shared information that pointed in this direction.
The new design of the iPhone SE will wait until 2024
There would be no new design this year. The 2022 iPhone SE would be identical to the 2020 model which was based on the iPhone 8. There would still be borders around the screen, an LCD panel and a Home button with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
We would have to wait until 2024 to have a “real” new iPhone SE. This would be based on the general design of the iPhone 11 and XR. This would be the first SE model to have an OLED screen, no border and Face ID. Dylandkt specifies that the screen would be slightly smaller than that of the iPhone XR and 11. For information, these two have a screen of 6.1 inches.
* Update to this tweet! * The iPhone SE with a similar design to the XR / 11 with a slightly smaller screen size, has been pushed back to an expected release of 2024. For 2022, Apple will instead release an iPhone SE with 5G, a spec bump, and the same design as the 2020 model.

Ross Young, a very knowledgeable screen analyst, had previously mentioned this 2024 iPhone SE with a screen between 5.7 and 6.1 inches, as well as a hole in place of the notch. This hole will debut on the iPhone 14 Pro in the second half of 2022 in order to remove the notch.
