iOS 17: iPhone 8 and iPhone X will not receive an update

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus as well as the iPhone X are not supported by the new iOS 17. Because both devices use the same A11 bionic chip. The fact that the new operating system was not designed for the X version of the iPhone should come as a bit of a surprise.

It appeared ten years after the first iPhone. Apple gave the model a completely new design, for example an almost borderless screen. And also because older iPhone models are generally supplied with system updates for a long time, the news that the iPhone X was no longer considered comes as a surprise. Especially since it’s only six years old.

Apple: Security updates still available

Although Apple has not yet completed work on iOS 17, the update is already available as a beta version – but so far only for the iPhone XS and XS Max as well as the iPhone XR and newer models.
