iPhone 14: Apple would already reduce production by 10%

Everything is not going exactly as planned in terms of the assembly of the iPhone 14, with Apple and its partners who would be obliged to revise the production volume downwards by around 10% according to Digitimes.

The problem started when TSMC (which assembles Apple chips) saw three major customers adjust their orders, making the semiconductor situation worse. With ongoing shortages, these customers have not been able to continue business as usual. However, the outlook should improve over time, with TSMC remaining optimistic for the rest of the year. Digitimes mentions how the orders for the iPhone 14 should be in line with the supplier’s expectations.

“Mass production of Apple’s iPhone 14s has begun, but the first-wave shipment target of 90 million units has been cut by 10%”indicates the site that has sources at the production plants.

This news could be (a bit) annoying given the latest information about Apple’s next smartphone. Yesterday, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo noted that the demand for the iPhone 14 will be greater in China than the iPhone 13. So this should translate into more sales volume and Apple is going to need a large stock to meet demand.
