Ming Chi-Kuo on the iPhone 13: 5 rumors
Ming-Chi Kuo is arguably the best known and most trusted Apple analyst. For years, he has predicted, based on his sources, months before the disclosure which innovations Apple will implement. Today it’s back with a list of iPhone 13 improvements. We have listed them all for you.
1.120Hz display
Industry analyst Ross Young and treats Jon Prosser and Max Weinbach said it before: the new iPhones will have a smooth 120Hz screen. Kuo adds that only the Pro variants of the iPhone 13 series will get these eye-catchers. In addition to 120Hz, the economical LTPO screen technology also comes to the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, so that the batteries last a long time despite the high refresh rate.
2. Smaller notch
The notch – the screen notch that makes way for the selfie camera and Face ID – will be smaller this year, according to Kuo. The notch has had the same format since the introduction of the iPhone X in 2017. Earlier there were rumors about a camera under the screen, which would make the notch disappear completely. So we have to be patient for that. Another recent rumor does state that the notch will make way for a small camera hole in 2022, such as on the Samsung Galaxy S21.
3. Larger batteries
The more battery the better, right? According to Kuo, the new iPhones will have a larger battery. While this may only compensate for the new 120Hz screen on the Pro models, it will hopefully result in noticeably longer battery life on the other models. A larger battery will probably ensure that the new models will be slightly heavier.
4. Charging via Lightning
Where Kuo previously stated that the iPhone 13 Pro Max would come without a Lightning port, he is now improving itself. All iPhones will still be charged via Lightning or MacSafe, according to the latest rumors. The much-discussed portless iPhone will eventually come, but it will take a while.
5. All new iPhones receive sensor shift
According to Kuo, all new iPhones will get sensor shift in the main camera this year; a technology that was already available on the iPhone 12 Pro Max last year. Sensor shift stabilizes the sensor itself by letting it ‘float’ in the camera. As a result, you will be less likely to suffer from blurry or shocking images during filming and photography.
