iPad Pro 2022 announcement coming soon
The usually well-informed journalist Mark Gurman know for sure: the announcement of the iPad Pro 2022 is coming. Apple would like to launch the new tablets within a few days. This does not happen at a major event, but via a simple press release.
It is therefore a fairly modest upgrade: both the 11-inch version and the 12.9-inch model look like two drops of water on their predecessors. The biggest change is that the tablets run on an M2 chip, which is about 20 percent faster than the M1. The new Pros may receive support for MagSafe and you can charge your iPhone wirelessly on the back of these iPads.
The announcement of the ‘regular’ iPad 2022 will probably also take place via a press release. That is striking, because Apple’s popular entry-level model is undergoing a major overhaul. He will probably get a larger 10.5-inch screen and a new design. According to Gurman, the design even resembles that of the iPad Pro. That would mean the home button will disappear. However, there are also rumors that Apple will keep that iconic button. We should know more in a few days.
The iPad 2022 also runs on a faster A14 chip and would have stereo speakers on both sides of the device. It will probably also receive support for the Apple Pencil 2. Charging is via USB-C instead of the outdated Lightning port.
New Macs will follow later this year
Are you ready for a new MacBook Pro? Then you have to be patient a little longer. Gurman thinks Apple won’t announce its professional 14 and 16-inch laptops until later this year. This may happen in November and also via a press release. The most significant change is the move to M2 Pro and M2 Max chips.
Apple would soon also like to release a Mac mini with M2 processor and an Apple TV 4K with A14 chip. The current model runs on an A12.
