‘iPad (2021) has a new design with thinner edges, will be released this fall’

Apple plans to release the iPad (2021) later this year. The new entry-level tablet is completely aimed at students and will have a renewed design with thinner screen edges.

Rumor: iPad (2021) has a new design

That says Mark Gurman, reporter for Bloomberg News. The insider claims that Apple will release a new entry-level tablet later this year. We have now arrived at the ninth generation iPad.

According to Gurman, Apple is making this tablet with students in mind. That is why the tablet would be a lot lighter than its predecessors, so that it is easier to transport and fits in all bags.

Narrower edges and faster chip

In addition, the screen edges also seem to be getting smaller, so that the display grows proportionately. The format itself is not tinkered with. Gurman thinks Apple is sticking to Touch ID, the fingerprint scanner under the screen that unlocks the screen.

In terms of hardware, Apple would give the iPad (2021) a much faster processor. That is no superfluous luxury, because the previous iPad (from 2020) has an A12 processor. This is the same chip as the iPhone XR phone that came out in 2018 and can now use a refresher.

Finally, Gurman claims that the iPad (2021) will be released in the “fall”, without mentioning a specific month or date. Earlier, the Bloomberg journalist said that Apple will host three more events this year.

The first, and immediately most important, event will take place in September. Then Apple announces the successor to the iPhone 12. Apparently, the iPhone 13 will be a modest upgrade over its predecessor.

The two other Apple events would be dominated by the iPad and Mac. The iPad (2021) discussed above may therefore be unveiled in October or November of this year.
