iOS 15.7.1 is out (with some really important fixes)
Haven’t moved to iOS 16 yet because you don’t want to or have an older iPhone or iPad? Then it is important that you install the update of iOS 15.7.1 as soon as possible. Apple fixes a few important issues.

iOS 15.7.1: Major Update
iOS 16.1 is now out, but not everyone wants to switch or even can’t. Since iOS 16, iPhones and iPads with an A9 chip are no longer allowed to participate in the update. These include the iPhone SE (2016) and the iPhone 6s.

So these older iPhones and iPads should stay on iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. Also, some users are stuck on iOS 15 on purpose until Apple fixes all the bugs.
Still, Apple will not leave you out in the cold, because an update for iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 has appeared. iOS and iPadOS 15.7.1 is therefore a very important update, because according to the description there are a large number of security updates.
One is a critical fix, as it fixes a dangerous exploit in the kernel (the central part of iOS and iPadOS). According to Apple, this exploit was regularly exploited by malicious parties. Is your iPhone running iOS 16? Then it is important that you update to iOS 16.1. Because these exploits are also fixed here.
Update had to be ‘fixed’ first
Apple had wanted to release the update earlier, but during the beta period it turned out that the update broke Face ID with some users. It is likely that Apple first solved that problem before the update was made available.

To download the update to iOS 15.7.1 or iPadOS 15.7.1, follow the steps below.
- Open the ‘Settings’ on your iPhone;
- Scroll down and tap on ‘General’;
- Choose ‘Software update’ and follow the steps on the screen.
