iOS 15.1 beta 1 active SharePlay

Apple today offered the beta 1 of iOS 15.1 and this is the opportunity to have SharePlay. This FaceTime-related feature should have arrived with iOS 15, but Apple has announced that it will eventually be available a little later.

iOS 15.1 welcome SharePlay

Here’s how Apple presents SharePlay:

With SharePlay, continue your conversations in FaceTime while watching movies and series, listening to music or sharing your screen. It’s a whole new way to find your loved ones, no matter how far away you are.

People who have iOS 15.1 beta 1 installed can therefore take advantage of SharePlay. The same goes for those who installed the beta of iPadOS 15 on iPad and tvOS 15.1 on Apple TV. On the Mac side, those who have macOS Monterey can take advantage, but they must install a specific profile to unlock the feature, as well as install Beta 7 (which has just been released). The profile downloads from Apple Dev Center.

Apple is not yet saying when iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, and tvOS 15.1 will be available for download in their final version. We suspect that it will be sometime in the fall. To give an idea, iOS 14.1 was released on October 20, 2020. A release in a month for iOS 15.1 is therefore quite possible.
