Intel will give unvaccinated employees unpaid leave

Non-vaccinated coronavirus is no longer a problem only for hospitals and the state, but also for large companies in recent weeks. Infected employees cause them to lose human resources at work and thus lose them. Several companies are already demanding vaccinations from their employees and according to the portal TheVerge has now joined them as well Intel.

Unvaccinated will receive three months’ unpaid leave

The American processor manufacturer allegedly informed employees that every unvaccinated person would have to receive the COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine or submit a vaccination exemption by January 4. Otherwise, they will face unpaid leave. Two weeks ago, Intel’s head of human resources, Christy Pambianchi, informed employees about this request.

She told them that even workers from home would have to apply for an exemption or take weekly tests. It also reportedly informed employees that Intel would review medical and religious vaccination exemptions by March 15 next year. The vaccination deadline was known last month, but at that time it was not specified what would happen to unvaccinated employees who did not meet the deadline.

However, they have recently been told that if an employee is not granted an exemption, they will receive unpaid leave. According to Christy Pambianchi, it may last longer depending on how the epidemic develops. She also said that Intel will continue to provide health benefits to employees on vacation.

Intel follows in the footsteps of Google

Intel’s vaccination requirement was introduced in line with President Joe Biden’s vaccination mandate for companies with more than 100 employees. However, federal courts are still debating whether such a broad mandate is constitutional. Google has recently taken the same step.

If its staff cannot be vaccinated or do not submit an exemption by 13 January, they will receive 30 days’ paid administrative leave. After that, they will be forced to take unpaid leave of up to six months and will be released.
