Instagram tests adding music to posts

Instagram has not been a simple photo sharing application for years. Company Facebook has made Instagram a full-fledged social network that will soon allow you to add music to your posts. The portal informs about it XDA-developers.

Adding music to posts will be similar to Stories and Reels

For several years now, Instagram has allowed users in supported regions to add music to their Stories. Users can select a few seconds of a song from a built-in catalog that contains millions of songs by world artists. The music support on Instagram was later extended to the Reels short video function, which is a copy of the popular social network TikTok.

Instagram is now testing this feature in classic posts on a small percentage of people in selected regions. Some users in India and other unspecified countries have already confirmed the presence of the new feature in the beta version of the application. When creating a classic post, they have a new menu of music selection under the item add location.

They can only attach a few seconds of a specific song to a post, so it works similarly to Stories and Reels short videos. As with Reels, you can see other posts that people have posted using the same song. Just click on its name. And if you find an interesting song in a post, you can effortlessly create your own post with the same song using the “Use Sound” button.
