In this federal state, the Germans refuel the cheapest

When filling up, the prices always fluctuate. Anyone who travels a lot by car knows this: Just fill up the tank and the gas at the next gas station is a few cents cheaper – annoying – or more expensive – lucky you. If you want to save at the pump, you not only have to wait for the right moment, you also have to live in the right federal state.

ADAC: Nowhere does refueling cost more than in Bavaria

Anyone who has to stop at the gas station on their way to work in the morning knows the self-reproaches: If I hadn’t been so comfortable last night and had filled up the gas right away, it would have been cheaper now. So there is already a perfect time to fill up the tank. But not all factors for the price are in your hands.

One Evaluation of the ADAC shows how much the prices for petrol and diesel currently differ between the federal states. Included especially the Bavarians have bad cards. Compared to Germany, they fill up with the most expensive fuel and come in last place for petrol and diesel:

The capital takes first place when it comes to petrol prices: in Berlin, a liter costs 1.62 euros (as of August 16, 2022, 11 a.m.). Between the cheapest gasoline – if you want to call it that with the generally high prices – and the highest price is around 15.8 cents per liter. One A tank filling of 40 liters costs 6.32 euros less in Berlin than in Bavaria.

It looks even worse with the diesel: Here too Bayern pay the most at 1.99 euros. In Hamburg, the prices are lowest at around 1.82 euros, the difference here is a proud 17.2 cents per liter.

In the south, the lack of water makes fuel more expensive

According to ADAC, the price comparison shows a strong north-south divide. While the average prices are usually lower in the northern federal states, the price increases sharply towards the south. In addition to Bavaria, consumers in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Hesse are feeling the effects of this.

The automotive experts identify this as one of the reasons low water of the Rhine. It makes transporting fuels more difficult, slower and more expensive. The end of the tank discount is also coming up soon, and fuel will then become even more expensive.
