iMessage from iPhone on Android. It also supports WhatsApp and more
There are many instant messaging applications, but until now, iMessage has always been exclusively for Apple device owners. The new Beeper app now promises to bring iMessage to Android as well. Beeper has a total of supporting an incredible 15 chat applications. How does Beeper work and manage to unify the fragmented world of chat services?
Eric Migicovsky, the company’s founder, is behind the new Beeper application Pebble, which developed one of the first smart watches and in 2016 it was bought by FitBit. The founders are launching Beeper at a time of ongoing controversy over the WhatsApp application and a mass exodus of users to the Signal application. Chatting services are currently a very hot topic. The entire Beeper service is built on open source protokolu Matrix, so there are no similar problems in the future as WhatsApp is now experiencing. Beeper unites 15 services together into one application using so-called “bridges” whose code is also available as open source. Beeper will even be able to run on your own server. This is so a fully decentralized solution similar to an old email.

How does Beeper get iMessage on Android and Windows?
The biggest questions are logically raised by how the authors achieved the connection Apple iMessagewhich are renowned for their complete closeness to the Apple ecosystem. The solution is a bit curious and sounds almost like a joke. However, the authors on their website literally point out that this is not a joke. If a Beeper user wants to use iMessage on Android or Windows, he has two options. If he owns a Mac, he can install the Beeper application and it will serve as a “bridge” or creator offers shipping old iPhone 4S (!)which can act as a bridge. That’s probably why it will be Beeper state for users 10 USD / month (215CZK).
New app alert: I’ve been working on Beeper for a while and today we’re launching! It’s a single app to chat on iMessage, WhatsApp, and 13 other networks. Been using it as my default chat client for the last 2 years and there is NO going back. Check it out https://t.co/vjAtnYvdhSpic.twitter.com/rJ39rPFixb

Beeper wants to become a Swiss knife for instant messaging
Fifteen supported services and iMessage support on Android, but they are not the only moves that Beeper tries to attract users. The service promises a possibility form an extension, chat shoes and integration through open Matrix API. For users, Beeper wants to be interesting with a clean user interface, the ability to search across all communicators or the ability to manage your entire inbox using filters in one application. If you want to try Beeper, it is possible to fill in the questionnaire on the website of the service.
Beeper comes at a time when the topic of privacy in instant messengers is very current. Due to its decentralized nature, it addresses the much-discussed topic today, where companies like Facebook have disproportionate power over their users’ data. The founder of Beeper claims that he has been using the service for two years and that it is said to be so comfortable that “there is no going back”. Whether it is a crazy idea or the future of communication will probably be revealed by time.
What chance do you think Beeper has of succeeding with iMessage for Android?
