Ikea is launching an all-round carefree package for e-car drivers

Ikea wants to promote sustainable energy use and spends a lot of money on it. In addition to initiatives for the company’s own furniture stores, a new offer for customers is on the agenda. E-car drivers should be able to get full equipment for independent charging current from Ikea.

Ikea wants to position itself as a climate-friendly company. The furniture giant will spend a lot of money on this in the coming years. The Ingka Group, the parent company behind Ikea, wants to invest around 340 million euros in solar energy in Germany and Spain. But also something new is planned for customers.

From Ikea: Solar power equipment for e-car drivers

Ikea wants to put together a complete package for e-car drivers or anyone who wants to become one: Solar panels on the roof, an electricity storage device for the home and a wall box to charge the e-car – everything can be bought directly through Ikea. For this one works together with the Swedish company Svea Solar, which offers photovoltaic systems (source: Ikea).

The wall box from Svea Solar charges e-cars with up to 22 kW, supports single or three phase charging. For charging you get a type 2 cable connection, which is common in Europe. The wall box is also equipped with a 4G modem and can therefore be monitored or controlled remotely at any time.

Lease an e-car and collect a bonus of €6,000

The Swedish provider Svea Solar will remain the contractual partner, with sales being handled by Ikea. However, the solar products are not only intended for owners of electric cars. Accordingly, you can only order a photovoltaic system or book a home storage system and wall box. Delivery, installation and a suitable inverter are included. So that you can also feed excess solar power into the public grid and bill your production correctly, you also need an electricity meter that is designed for this.

With self-produced electricity, the e-car is particularly worthwhile:

Ikea leaves the start time and price open

However, Ikea leaves two crucial pieces of information unanswered in the corresponding notification: German customers have been able to obtain the solar panels from Ikea for some time. However, it has not yet been revealed when the wallbox combination is to be introduced. This also applies to the additional price. For eight solar modules with 400 Wp you currently pay 8,500 euros including all necessary work at Ikea (see Ikea).
