If you don’t want to pay more, you have to be careful

You can save a lot of money with the Lidl Plus app and the corresponding coupons. But beware, there is a common mistake to avoid. You don’t always get the actual promotional product and then maybe even pay for it. We’ll tell you what to look out for.

If you use the Lidl Plus iPhone or Android app, you can save money. Some items are free as a small gift, while Lidl gives heavy discounts on other products. In principle, the Lidl Plus customer program is therefore recommended.

Lidl Plus app: Avoid confusion in a targeted manner – this is how it works

However, sometimes you get it wrong. Namely when promotional products are very similar and you sometimes mix them up when shopping. Then there’s an unpleasant surprise at the checkout or at the latest at home: Why didn’t I get the lemons cheaper now? Maybe because there are two different varieties and you unfortunately took the wrong version with you? Went really stupid. So the question arises: How can you avoid this common mistake in the future?

We have a tip for you. If you take a closer look in the app and then at the price tag, you can identify the promotional goods without a doubt. At Lidl, for example, fruit and vegetables are processed with a so-called PLU number marked. This can be found on the coupon in the Lidl Plus app and also on the price tag in the supermarket. If both numbers match, you can access and get the correct product.

The same applies to the product codes. In the case in the photo, however, Lidl makes the distinction a little easier, thanks to an extra note. (Image source: Screenshots of the Lidl Plus app and GIGA)

The same applies to the so-called product codes. Lidl uses this for the majority of items, namely for all items with a bar code. These can also be found on the coupon. Simply scroll down a bit for this. If several article variants qualify, Lidl lists them on a subsequent page. Simply tap on the “Product Codes” menu item and view the entire list.

Still applies: Check the receipt directly

Armed in this way, you should be able to avoid confusion in the future. Nevertheless, the following applies regardless: after the purchase, look directly at the receipt and check the discount. If there are any inconsistencies, you can ask directly at the checkout and solve the problem.
