Huge amounts of data in the fixed network, but something is wrong
Never before has more data flowed through Vodafone’s fixed network than in 2021. Düsseldorf can be proud of the figures, as they show that the expansion of faster connections is progressing. Other numbers, however, cast Vodafone’s success in a far more bleak light.
Vodafone reports data record: 2021 will be a successful year
In 2021, Vodafone customers did not splash out: never before has the fixed network of the Düsseldorf internet, cable and mobile phone provider been used so intensively. 48,000 petabytes flowed throughout the year distributed through the Vodafone network, DSL and cable fiber optic connections taken together.
If you have little or no idea what that means, Vodafone can help you: “The transferred data volume of 48,000 petabytes corresponds to around 50 hard drives (of this size are not yet available) on each of which around eleven million HD films on a 1 exabyte memory have it taken off,” writes the company (source: Vodafone). Anyone who occasionally downloads an episode of their favorite series to their smartphone via Netflix or Prime Video will understand: that’s quite a lot.
Vodafone is quite satisfied with the development. For example, there are less extreme peaks in upstream utilization, which can be seen on the progressive expansion of the DOCSIS 3.1 standard returns. Up to 50 MBit/s are possible here. There are no problems with the peak loads, which sometimes exploded during the pandemic due to home office and home schooling.
Problem for Vodafone: Consumer experiences undermine self-expression
With such a development, which is grandiose from your own point of view, one thing should not be disregarded: the great numbers presented by Vodafone are in a certain sense Contradiction to the public image of the provider. In 2020, Vodafone was still in first place for complaints to consumer advice centers.
The best landline network is of no use if the WLAN network is weak. You can see how you upgrade yours with us:
The fact that Vodafone is said to be better than ever before and at the same time that customers are no longer terminating their contracts with any other provider does not quite fit with the observations of the cancellation service provider Volders. Unfortunately, you still draw attention to yourself quite regularly with disturbances.
If you believe the main competitor Telekom, put Vodafone on the wrong technology. The Bonn-based group sees its own FTTH strategy far superior to Vodafone’s TV cable approach – consumers can make the best decision if they know their own needs well.
