Huawei P30 and P30 Pro receive June security update
Huawei is struggling more than ever because of US sanctions. For example, cooperation with American companies such as Google is not allowed. Despite that, there will be updates for the devices. Now a ‘new’ update is being rolled out for the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro.
June update for P30 series
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro were the last devices in the P series, which were equipped with Google services. This ‘thanks’ to the US government that decided to put Huawei on a blacklist. As a result, new devices were no longer allowed to be supplied with Google services, and that it also had to work with updates via the Open Source part of Android. For that reason, there can sometimes be quite a bit of delay in the updates. We also see this in the update that is now being rolled out in the Netherlands.
Huawei is rolling out an update for the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro with version number EMUI 11.0.0.159. This update, which has a size of 235MB, contains the June 2021 security update. The last update for the two smartphones was rolled out in May. The P30 series is still not equipped with Android 11. According to reports from March, this update should still be available for the P30 series, but it is unclear how far it stands.
