Huawei announces new Mateview screens
Huawei is expanding its monitor portfolio: The inexpensive 23.8-inch model is now followed by two Mateview screens that stand out from the crowd with a 3: 2 format and an integrated soundbar.
In the course of the announcement of the first Huawei Display 23.8, the manufacturer indicated that the budget monitor was just the beginning in the area of โโscreens. Now Huawei has stepped up: The MateView surprises with an office-suitable 3: 2 aspect ratio, while the 21: 9 monitor Mateview GT should appeal to gamers.

Ideal for the office: Huawei MateView 28.3 inches in 3: 2
The Mateview’s 28.2-inch screen has a resolution of 3,840 ร 2,560 pixels. The IPS panel thus delivers more than 4K resolution. With the aspect ratio of 3: 2, the manufacturer is based on its Matebooks – so documents can be ideally viewed side by side.
According to Huawei, the Mateview covers 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space, supports the HDR 400 standard and has a color depth of 10 bits. The manufacturer specifies 500 candelas for the brightness and 1,200: 1 for the static contrast ratio, which are decent values. The screen is not for gamers, as it only has a refresh rate of 60 Hertz and a response time of eight milliseconds.
The control is also special with the Mateview: Huawei has integrated a smartbar under the screen, with which the screen can be operated like a smartphone by swiping gestures. The height of the screen can be adjusted and tilted using the stainless steel stand, which is somewhat reminiscent of Apple’s Pro-XDR display. The monitor has, among other things, speakers and a dock with USB-C port and 135 watt charging function, two USB-A ports, a mini display port and a 2-in-1 headphone-microphone combo port.

Huawei Mateview GT: curved 34-inch screen with soundbar
Gamers should enjoy the Mateview GT, which has a 165 Hertz frame rate and a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 pixels. The 34-inch screen in 21: 9 format and 1500R curvature is also suitable for watching films and series. According to Huawei, the panel offers 90 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space.
The placement of the speakers on the Mateview GT is unusual: Instead of moving them to the rear as is often the case, Huawei has put a stereo soundbar with 2 x 5 watts in the base.
For an ergonomic position, the screen can be adjusted and tilted eleven centimeters in height. The widescreen monitor is supplied with power via the USB-C port and has two HDMI 2.0 connections, a display port 1.4 and a headphone jack.
The Mateview GT will go on sale from July 23, 2021 and cost 549 euros. The Mateview will only be available from August 4th and will be a bit more expensive at 699 euros. Buyers who order one of the Mateview models by August 21, 2021 will receive the FreeBuds Studio over-ear headphones worth 299 euros free of charge.
