Nestflix shows films and series that don’t even exist

Move over, Netflix, here comes Nestflix! In our find, we show what this special streaming service, which is not, is all about.

What do “The Rural Juror”, “Mac & CHEESE” and “Wrench” have in common? Right, they are TV series that only exist in TV series. What sounds slightly confusing can now be browsed on a very special streaming service.

Nestflix shows films and series that are unique to the film world

According to her own statement, the web designer Lynn Fisher has a weakness for fake films and series that appear in real films and series – and now with them Nestflix created a collection point just for this; practically sorted by genre.

Like its namesake Netflix, Nestflix has the look of a streaming service, even if nothing can be played. But there is further information on the formats such as age rating, actors: inside – and of course which film or series they come from. You can also click through all available film stills.

Insights into Hollywood’s self-reference

Fisher himself describes her project as “a wiki that does a little cosplay” – understatement at its best. So far, she has collected more than 400 films and series on Nestflix, with more to follow in any case. Therefore Incidentally, she is also happy to receive suggestions.

Even if none of the entries can actually be streamed, the collection is fascinating. Nestflix makes it clear how self-referential the film industry is in some of its works. For example, fake films like “Titanic II” target the practice of throwing a sequel on the market for (almost) every blockbuster – whether it makes sense or not.

But also a look at the stills, logos and the general artwork of the fakes shows on the one hand how much attention to detail they were created with. On the other hand, it is always a journey into the past, to the time the actual work was published.
