How will the 200W Hypercharge battery from Xiaomi affect it?

Chinese company Xiaomi has recently shown the world extremely fast charging Hypercharge with power 200 W. Unfortunately, he did not announce when we would meet him on his smartphones, so several media began to speculate about the unresolved problems with this charging. Portal GSMArena now informs that Hypercharge may reduce battery capacity after two years. How much the manufacturer himself revealed.

Full battery charge in just 8 minutes

During the performance, Xiaomi showed in the presentation video that the technology HyperCharge can charge a 4,000 mAh battery to 100% in 8 minutes with a power of 200 W via a USB-C cable. In the case of 120 W wireless charging, it only takes 15 minutes to fully charge the device. Cable charging on it reached 50% of the battery capacity in just three minutes.

The company also demonstrated extremely fast wireless charging. With this 120 W wireless charge, the device reached 10% of the battery capacity per minute and 50% in seven minutes. The charging smartphone in the video was the flagship model Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro, which the manufacturer introduced only a few months ago.

The battery will reduce capacity by 20% after two years of daily charging

Immediately after the introduction of the new technology, journalists began asking Xiaomi whether such a powerful technology would degrade the battery or extremely overheat it. The manufacturer has now given them the answer to the first question. According to its measurements, the capacity of the battery should drop to 80% of its value after 800 cycles.

The number of 800 cycles should correspond to two years of daily charging to full charge. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra battery with the original capacity of 5000 mAh will drop to 4000 mAh after this period. Xiaomi claims that the Chinese authority requires at least 60% capacity after 400 cycles, which is significantly higher than Xiaomi.

The fact is that even with a slower charge after 800 cycles, it degrades the battery capacity, albeit with lower overheating. However, the difference in charging speed is according to the portal GSMArena essential. While charging 5 W with charging can take several hours, 200 W HyperCharge charging in just 10 minutes. And if someone wants to extend the life of the battery, according to experts, it should charge only to 85% of its capacity.
