How to save three lives in one hour? Give your blood!

Blood donation is the official application of theFrench blood establishmentthe organization that manages blood donations across the country.

It allows you to know where to donate blood around your home and to make an appointment directly with the minimum of steps possible. The app will send you a notification when needed. But before taking the plunge, you can answer a questionnaire to find out if you are fit to donate blood. Did you know, for example, that you have to weigh at least 50 kg for this?

It’s true, what are you waiting for? 😉

Save 3 lives in one hour!

The questionnaire is very quick and confidential of course. You will be asked if you have any diseases, if you have ever had blood transfusions, if you have ever had cancer, when was your last tattoo, if you use narcotics, if you have recently had an operation, if you take drugs, etc. Once you are sure you can donate, you can choose to donate blood, plasma or platelets. These three types of donations take 10 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes, but you will have to count between 1 hour and 2 hours of presence on site anyway.

Blood, plasma and platelets

Plasma is the liquid part of blood. During a plasma donation, you will recover your red blood cells and the plasma will be used for severe burns or hemophiliacs, for example. Some people with genetic diseases also experience plasma deficiencies. Platelets are intended for people who are affected by leukemia and who have had trouble producing it because of chemotherapy. In a blood bag, there are not enough platelets to transfuse a patient. It is therefore necessary to combine the platelets from 6 donors of the same blood group to produce a bag of platelets ready to be transfused. As for the blood, it is used in case of haemorrhage, but also for people requiring red blood cells such as those with sickle cell disease.

If you want to donate your blood, your plasma or your platelets, don’t wait for “tomorrow” and make an appointment with the Blood donation app.
