How to play the new Zelda on your phone?
Android has always favored emulators, despite the legal risks and technical limitations from device to device. So, often, developers are content to offer simpler and less risky retro gaming emulators. But some teams are trying their luck on current consoles, including the Switch.
Yuzu: an emulator can hide another
Until then, Skyline was the most popular Switch emulator on Android. But recently, the developers behind the tool decided to unplug it in the face of threats wielded by Nintendo. Well, as nature abhors a vacuum, another emulator has taken over: it’s Yuzu, already very present on PC, which has therefore just deployed an Android application.
The emulator is available directly on the Google Play Store, for free, but also has a paid option to support the project. Yuzu supports external gamepads, modding as well as a large number of built-in features.
It will take power for Yuzu
For now, the emulator on Android is still in its infancy. The developers indicate, in a blog post, that performance optimization is at the heart of their work for the next few months. However, to run Yuzu, certain criteria must be met: highly recommended Snapdragon chip (Exynos and others do not seem compatible) with a minimum of 6 GB of RAM.
Can we play Zelda on Android?
To start a game of Tears of the Kingdom on your smartphone, Yuzu warns you. It will require a high-end configuration, capable of supporting the load of such a game. The developers therefore recommend 12 GB of RAM to run it, while warning that the game is not yet stable in emulated version.
In order to save time, the team behind Yuzu has posted an interactive list of all the games tested under Yuzu as well as their compatibility grade. We let you discover all the possibilities offered by this emulator which, we hope, will have a long career on Android!
