FaceTime calls with Android users in iOS 15
In iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, you can invite anyone to a conversation via the FaceTime app, even if they don’t have an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. If you’ve ever used Zoom for a meeting during the corona crisis, then you probably feel completely at home with FaceTime in iOS 15. Inviting others works about the same.
As with Zoom, an Apple user creates a link that anyone with an Android or Windows device can click. This link directs others directly to the FaceTime call.
Create a FaceTime link in 4 steps
Fortunately, creating a FaceTime link is very simple. Create your own FaceTime link in iOS 15 in no time with these four steps:
- Open the FaceTime app on your iPhone or iPad with iOS 15. In iOS 14 or older, the feature is not (yet) available;
- Press the ‘Create link’ button;
- Then tap Add Name to name the conversation. In this way, all participants know for which meeting they are invited. Then tap the ‘OK’ button;
- Then choose how you want to share the link. It is possible to add an extra message. After that you can send the link.
More new features of FaceTime in iOS 15
In addition to making FaceTime calls to Android and Windows users, FaceTime in iOS 15 gets a lot of other new features. For example, there is SharePlay: a function that allows you to share all kinds of content on your screen with your friends. That way you can watch a movie together or visit a website in sync.
A portrait mode is also coming to FaceTime. This blurs your background so that you stand out completely. Additionally, if you have AirPods Pro or AirPods Max, you can FaceTime with Spacial Audio. However, these features do not work on all iPhones and iPads.
