The previous cabinet did not intend to increase child benefits, but because of inflation, there will be some more. The child benefit will increase from 1 July. How much will you receive? We’ll sort it out.

In June, the cabinet announced that an increase in child benefit is extremely welcome, because many people are struggling with the rising prices.

Still increase in child benefit

The cabinet first wanted to cut back on child benefits, but that plan is not going ahead. The money that was saved would be used to improve the services of the UWV and the Social Insurance Bank (SVB). They still free up money for this, but that is not at the expense of child benefit. “If the child benefit does not go up with the price increases, it could have a negative effect on the income of families, so the cabinet has decided to put an end to the plans,” said the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. In the coming years, child benefits will increase as usual twice a year – in January and July – based on rising costs.
