How long is the trial period in different streaming services?

Streaming services, whether for listening to music or watching movies and series, have become a common part of the list of smartphone applications. Each of them costs a monthly fee with the possibility of a trial period of one or more months. In that article, it summarizes the current price lists of these services and how long their trial period lasts.

Music services

Spotify from the Swedish company Spotify AB is currently the most used music streaming service. The main reason is the widest library of music titles, multiplatformity and a very good application that is connected to many other services. But because the service is still not profitable after years, it has recently had to increase the price of its highest subscription. Current prices are as follows.

Subscription:

• Individual – price 5.99 euros – only for 1 account
• Duo – price 7.99 euros – maximum 2 accounts
• Family – price 10.99 euros – up to 6 accounts with the possibility of blocking inappropriate content in the case of children

Trial period:

YouTube Music

YouTube Music Google listed as the successor to the failed Google Play Music service. Its advantage is the connection with the YouTube service, thanks to which it also enables the playback of video clips of selected songs. So far, however, it has a smaller library than Spotify, and its application environment, which is based on the classic YouTube application, lags a bit behind the competition. Plus, you can have YouTube for free with your classic YouTube Premium subscription.

• Student – price 2.99 euros – only for students after verification of studies
• Family – price EUR 8.99 – up to 5 accounts over the age of 13

Trial period:

Tidal

If someone demands the highest possible quality of music to play, they will definitely reach for the service Tidal. It can play music tracks in lossless quality, which corresponds to a flow of 1,411 kbps. 320 kbps is used by default. In our country, the Slovak operator O2 offers this service for its flat rates.

The French equivalent of Spotify is known in our country mainly thanks to the Slovak operator Telekom, which offers it with its flat rates with a 50% discount. Its application environment is almost identical to Spotify, but it also includes a music recognition feature similar to Shazam. However, the library with music titles is slightly smaller than in the case of Spotify. Recently, the service also started offering subscriptions with lossless Hi-Fi sound quality.

Apple Music is one of the oldest music streaming services, originally designed for Apple devices across the Americas. Later, however, it expanded to other platforms and markets. Her advantage for a long time was, in addition to a wide library of music titles, also a long trial period for a full 3 months. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case.

Netflix is without a doubt the most successful streaming service and Internet TV in the last 10 years. Not only because of the quality applications for all platforms and the high image quality of movies and series, but also thanks to its own content. In recent years, he has produced dozens of films and series with budgets of up to 100 million, making their quality equal to Hollywood productions.

• Basic – price 7.99 euros – only for 1 device – 720p resolution
• Standard – price 9.99 euros – for 2 devices – 1080p resolution
• Family – price 11.99 euros – for 4 devices – 4K resolution

Trial period:

Streaming service HBO Go belongs to the most famous cable television HBO and offers all films and series of its long – term production. This also means serial hits such as Game of Thrones or Westworld. However, it will soon be replaced in Slovakia by the new HBO Max service, which wants to get closer to the rival Netflix. HBO Go offers only one subscription and its trial period is clearly the shortest.
