how do I get my money back for my purchases?
Google will end Stadia on January 18, 2023 and players will receive a full refund on all their Stadia purchases. This concerns both purchased games and in-game purchases, the Stadia controller and bundles with the Chromecast Ultra. But how exactly do you get your money back?
Stadia Refunds
Stadia gamers recently received an email from Google. In it, the company explains again that Stadia will stop on January 18, 2023. Gamers are fully reimbursed for all Stadia purchases they’ve made over the years, and that’s what we’re focusing on in this article. Androidworld has already extensively discussed all possible consequences for gamers, which you can read in this article.
But what about that fee? Whether you bought games on Stadia, in-game items or a controller with Chromecast Ultra, Google will automatically refund the full purchase amount. Those refunds will mainly take place in January and they will be made to the account you used to purchase the products or games. It only applies to purchases made in the Stadia Store or Google Store. There will be no refunds for the Stadia Pro subscription.
Is automatic refund not possible?
There are situations where Google cannot simply refund the automatic purchase amount. Gamers may have closed their bank account in the meantime, or they may have bought games through a Google Play gift card.
If Google is unable to process the refund automatically, it will contact you via email and send it to the email account you use with Stadia. This e-mail contains instructions in which you can choose a method for refund. We expect that most of these emails will also be sent in January. Finally, Google also points to a help center where questions about Stadia are answered.
