How ChatGPT is becoming a threat to businesses

We hope you had a good day and now we want to give you some exciting information to take with you into the evening. t3n Daily is also available as a podcast and as a newsletter. Here are the topics of the day.

Law professor warns against ChatGPT in companies

AI chatbots like ChatGPT can be helpful in many situations. But they also harbor risks – especially in business processes, according to an Australian law professor. Anyone who feeds the AI with business information must assume that this will become part of the training data set and thus be accessible to external parties. This could inadvertently infringe copyright or violate privacy, Rob Nicholls explained. An internal Samsung code has already found its way into the OpenAI training dataset in this way.

Nicholls therefore suggests carefully considering the inputs to an AI bot beforehand. If the prompt contains sensitive data, it should not be sent that way, he emphasizes. Material that would otherwise never be shared outside of the company should not become the basis of an AI request.

Is the wind turning on the stock market? Fall bets increase

The stock market has developed splendidly in recent weeks – despite high inflation, the tense economic situation and rising interest rates. The US technology exchange Nasdaq has risen by 16 percent since January. Is it going in a different direction now? Yes, if Mike Wilson has his way. The top strategist at the US investment bank Morgan Stanley expects a sale soon.

A similar trend can be seen among professional investors. Overall, the volume of bets on a price drop is now said to amount to one trillion dollars. Or, as the Handelsblatt summarizes: “Almost all of Wall Street seems to be preparing for a possible price crash.” However, at least at the beginning of the current reporting season, there was little to indicate that companies would have to report excessively high falls in profits or even losses.

New Amazon solution to drive internationalization

Amazon has unveiled a solution that will allow Marketplace retailers to internationalize their business for Europe-wide sales in just a few days. The European Expansion Accelerator (EEA) can be used to list goods in all nine country shops within the EU (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Belgium) and in Great Britain.

Above all, product suppliers, for whom Amazon is one sales channel among many, benefit from the fact that this step can now be taken with just a few clicks. However, retailers should be aware that in this way they also have to meet the strict delivery conditions associated with this in a dozen countries. According to Amazon, the whole thing also benefits Amazon customers, who should benefit from new products, attractive prices and faster delivery options.

Tesla: sales increase, profits fall

Tesla has presented its business figures for the first quarter of 2023. With 423,000 vehicles delivered between January and March 2023, a new record was once again set and sales rose by 24 percent to more than 23.3 billion US dollars. However, profitability has suffered greatly from the lower prices as well as the higher material costs and investments in battery production.

There was also a decline in profit. The US automaker closed the first quarter of 2023 with a plus of a good 2.5 billion dollars. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, however, this means a decline of 24 percent. Tesla boss Elon Musk expects the delivery of the Cybertruck to start in the fall. Its body is not made of steel as usual, but of hardened stainless steel. However, it is unclear whether Tesla can keep to this schedule.

For 120,000 euros with the balloon into the stratosphere

Do you have 120,000 euros on the high edge? Then you can take off into the stratosphere in a balloon and enjoy a unique view of our planet from a height of 25 kilometers. The exclusive balloon flights are offered by the French company Zephalto, which also wants to offer high-quality cuisine with a Michelin star at the lofty heights.

At this altitude, you are in the middle of the darkness of space, have 98 percent of the Earth’s atmosphere below you, and can enjoy the curvature of the Earth, explained Zephalto founder Vincent Farret D’Astiès. The balloons, filled with helium or hydrogen, are to take off from France with two pilots on board and reach the targeted height of 25 kilometers in the earth’s atmosphere in around one and a half hours.
