High on Life game review

Are you tired of serious shooters and can you appreciate silly jokes? Then you will probably absolutely love High on Life.

People processed into hallucinogenic drugs

The story of High on Life, from development studio Squanch Games, begins with the invasion of Earth by the Garmantuans. This is alien scum, led by the villain Garmantuous, who want to turn the earth into a large drug factory. To make matters worse, we humans are the raw material for the drugs they produce.

Then of course you can say: finally, our life has meaning, and that annoying neighbor, I will also get rid of that when he turns into fun powder. But unfortunately that’s not all. These aliens are also very disgusting. So disgusting that you want to blow them all off one by one. See here the summary of the game in a nutshell.

But then you come. You just finished school. You don’t have a job anyway, so you decide to teach that alien scum some more. You are on your way, into space.

Gatlians

The Gatlians, foul-mouthed guns

Fortunately, you are not alone in High on Life. You are accompanied by four talking weapons, the Gatlians (gatling gun is a type of machine gun), The Gatlians each have their own character and are rather rude. There is also a reason for that, because intrusive aliens make your life miserable. A very annoying and persistent alien can only be turned into a blob of smoking slime at the end of the mission. All’s well that ends well, so.

Technical details High on Life game

High on Life can be played on Xbox and PC via the Steam platform. The game can be purchased for around € 50 via Epic Games, Xbox and Steam. Playing time in the most optimal mission is around 16 hours, but there are all kinds of side tracks that you can follow and thus make the playing time longer.

The folks at Squanch Games have done their best to provide the game with an appropriate amount of, in their words, “Blood and Gore, Crude Humor, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Use of Drugs, Violence”. If you are a bit too fine-tuned for this, then this game is less suitable for you.
