Here the Chinese company is again the leader

It hasn’t been easy for Huawei to keep up with the competition lately. But that doesn’t mean that the Chinese company doesn’t believe in its own success and invests a lot of money in the development of new ideas. This is paying off, because at least in Europe, Samsung has once again been pushed off the throne when it comes to patent applications.

Huawei beats Samsung in patent filings

Although Huawei is under pressure from US sanctions, they are not slowing it down. The Chinese company has registered the most patents in Europe. This knocks Samsung out of first place. total has Huawei 2021 3,544 patents pending in Europe. At Samsung, there were just over 3,400 patents. LG comes in third. As a German company, Siemens only ranks fifth with over 1,700 patent applications. Bosch comes in tenth place and just barely makes it into the top 10 (source: FAZ).

This confirms the immense investments that Huawei puts into development in order not to be left behind by the competition. They are working flat out to develop new technologies, too in order to be able to position itself more independently of the USA on the market. Of the total sales that Huawei made in 2021, almost 23 percent will go into development. So it is not surprising that many ideas are also patented. At least in terms of registrations, Huawei secures first place in Europe and could also be seen as the most innovative company in Europe.

Huawei is developing new products like the MatePad Paper:

Smartphone and tablet sales are falling sharply

But none of this has any effect on the fact that things are going badly for Huawei in the smartphone business in Europe. New smartphones appear without Google services, do not yet have HarmonyOS on board and the 5G modem is missing. Huawei sells tablets with HarmonyOS, but sales figures are falling rapidly there too. In Europe, Google services are indispensable, so you can’t do anything here without them.
