Handheld with Playdate handle starts pre-orders -apkrig
Pre-orders for the unusual Playdate handheld will start this week. The device will be ordered from Thursday, July 29, and will sell for $ 179. The first batch is to contain 20,000 devices, and whoever fits in it will receive their handheld at the end of this year. However, the manufacturer says that it can satisfy even high demand, and as soon as the first batch is disassembled, it will order another according to demand.
Unfortunately, neither the Czech Republic nor Slovakia are among the countries to which Playdate will be officially sent during the launch. He will get to Germany and Poland. However, the company promises that in time it will reach other countries and asks potential applicants to fill in the relevant questionnaire if their countries are missing from the current list. According to him, the manufacturer does not want to take too big a bite and explained that with regard to taxes, the support of individual markets is quite complicated for such a small team.
In addition to the handheld itself, the Playdate Stereo Dock will also be available in the future, which works as a speaker, charger and stylish pen holder. But it will not be ordered yet. On the other hand, on June 29, you can also book a magnetic flip cover together with the handheld. By the way, when the mention of charging has already been mentioned, it is worth remembering that the Playdate will last 8 hours on flashlights.
As we wrote before, customers of the non-traditional handheld with a handle will also receive 24 games in the first season, which is twice as much as they were originally supposed to get. The device also eventually has twice the storage space – 4 GB instead of two. But the price of the equipment also rose – by $ 30. New titles will be released each week in pairs. These are supposed to be exclusive pieces, but often by various well-known developers. For example, the author of Papers, Please a Return of the Obra Dinn Lucas Pope or the father of Katamari Damacy.

The device was first announced in 2019. Its very name suggests that games will be delivered to customers on certain dates. Until now, Panic has specialized in programs for iOS and Mac. But a few years ago, she also started publishing games. Firewatch or Untitled Goose Game were released under her wings. Playdate is created in collaboration with the Swedish company Teenage Engineering. The display is supplied by Sharp.
