Hackers who attacked EA published all the stolen data -apkrig

At the beginning of June, we informed you about the data leak from Electronic Arts and the way in which hackers were supposed to hack into the server. Leaving aside the mistake of an IT employee who provided unauthorized persons with an authentication key to connect to the intranet, hackers carried away the source code of the latest part of the FIFA series and also of the Frostbite engine, on which a large part of the Electronic Arts portfolio stands, including competitive games. The data was originally supposed to be offered on the dark website, but then there was talk of a ransom that hackers demanded from developers. As early as mid-July, however, word came that EA would definitely not negotiate anything with hackers, and the retribution was to release part of the stolen data. But because society’s position does not change, hackers do work completed and published the entire package.

According to The Record magazine, the archive is 751 GB and contains the above data from June 2021. Electronic Arts then confirms that no player information should be included, as evidenced by the data itself, which is freely available on torrent search engines. Although the source code may not seem dangerous in the eyes of players, in experienced hands it can lead to unwanted modifications or the production of cheats. The Record also mentions that the data includes tools for managing tools on the server side of developers, so this seriously opens the back door for cracks and the already mentioned cheats. Due to the prevalence of the Frostbite engine, a number of series are at risk, not just FIFA.

The fact that it is a valuable commodity also indicates the amount for which the hackers wanted to sell the stolen data – it was to be around $ 28 million. The reason was also to include many of EA’s own frameworks as well as SDKs from Sony and Microsoft, on whose console EA naturally releases its games. The package is said to include data for current FIFY years, specifically bug removal tools and keys for the APIs used. Electronic Arts responded specifically to the incident – and admitted that the attack had taken place – but also mentioned in general terms the increase in security and cooperation with the authorities and authorities dealing with the case. We will most likely never know whether this will have an impact on the upcoming titles, or to what extent.
