Great for teething: 7x the nicest teethers

For most babies, getting through the first teeth is no fun. It happens on average between five and eight months. Your baby is lethargic, cries a lot and often keeps his fingers (or whatever he comes across) in his mouth. Also keep an eye on his cheeks – they can turn quite red – and he might have a red bottom or diaper rash. Often your child poops more often if he has problems with his teeth.

What can you do with a toothache?

Fortunately, your child does not suffer from the complaints non-stop. Tooth pain comes and goes: sometimes it lasts a few days, sometimes it only affects him for one day and then it is over.

What can you do if it is bothering him a lot? First of all, give an extra portion of love and attention. You can also gently massage the painful area with your finger. Clean your finger beforehand to prevent infections and keep your finger under the cold tap for a while, because cooling can have a pain-relieving effect. Finally, a teether can also help. These are specially made for incoming teeth. Your child can chew, suck or bite on it.

Types of teethers

Teethers come in all sizes, colors and materials. What you see a lot is wood and natural rubber. Some teething rings contain a cooling element, so that the teether feels extra cold. To do that, you must first cool it in the fridge. Never put it in the freezer, because the teether will get too cold.

If your child is chewing it a lot, it is of course hygienic to clean it regularly. Most teethers are not dishwasher safe, but you don’t have to. You simply wash them with warm water and a little soapy water or clean them with a damp cloth.

Are you looking for a teether for your baby or as a maternity gift? We have listed a few nice models for you.
