Graphics card prices at Nvidia & AMD on the decline: is the crisis over?

PC gamers can breathe again. The prices for current graphics card models from AMD & Nvidia have been falling again for a few weeks – and the trend seems to be continuing in the future. Is the graphics card crisis finally over?

Prices for Nvidia and AMD graphics cards are finally falling

PC gamers have had nothing to laugh about in the last few months. Anyone looking for a new gaming PC usually used the ready-made computer, as the prices for graphics cards continued to skyrocket.

But now there is hope again. Anyone who has taken a look at the price development of current graphics cards from AMD & Nvidia over the past few weeks should have made an exciting discovery – because slowly but surely selling prices seem to be falling again:

Since the turn of the year, the graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia have become cheaper and cheaper. At the beginning of January, the sales prices on the open market were still almost 80 percent above the RRP – the cards are now being sold on average only around 50 percent above the official price recommendation distributed by the manufacturer (source: 3DCenter).

A look at the prices of a popular Asus RTX 3070 shows what a difference that makes. The Asus TUF RTX3070 V2 was traded for just under 1,140 euros at the end of 2021, but is now for a little less than 900 euros available in the official shop (look directly at Asus).

And what else important happened in the gaming and tech world? We’ll tell you in the GIGA Headlines:

Inexpensive graphics cards benefit in particular

While the high-end graphics cards are often still well above the official RRP, prices for low-end and mid-range models seem to be leveling off – that should be especially good for beginners.

the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050, which is suitable for playing in Full HD, is now available for around 350 euros. Although this is still almost 70 euros above the RRP, it is a real bargain compared to the prices of the last few weeks. If you want to dust off an even cheaper model, grab it RX 6500 XT from AMD, which is not exactly future-proof due to the severely limited video memory. However, AMD’s entry-level GPU currently only costs around 210 euros – which is definitely an inexpensive interim solution.

These graphics card models are currently in particularly high demand in this country:

However, we advise all PC players to wait a little longer – there is still something to do! It’s quite possible that prices will fall even further in the coming weeks and that we’ll finally reach the RRP level soon. We keep our fingers crossed.
