Gran Turismo 7 uses ray tracing only in repeated shots -apkrig

The Gran Turismo series will make a big comeback next year. After the main numbered line has jumped a whole generation, Gran Turismo 7, which Polyphony Digital developers led by designer Kazunori Jamauchi has talked about many times in recent months, can be seen in the last turn before the imaginary finish line. One of the frequent topics was the technical side and the promise of great graphics, high framerat and finally resolution. However, Yamauči corrected the original estimates several times and took away, for example, the parties’ expectations of the resolution. In the end, however, the statements about ray tracing must also be revised, which – as in the case of F1 2021 from Codemasters – will be available only in repeated shots and also in photomode.

The information was heard in an interview with the Japanese magazine Game Watch and is a slight disappointment, given how Sony and developer representatives have talked about the technology in previous interviews. For example, in October 2020, a cry appeared on the official product page of Gran Turisma 7 – Marvel at the quality of rendering using ray tracing with support for 4K, HDR and a target frequency of 60 frames per second. A few months later, Yamauči himself stated that one of the reasons why players had to wait so long for the seventh episode was waiting for path tracing, an advanced beam simulation that the previous generation PlayStation hardware could not handle. The result is that the technology will be available only in places where it is not raced, ie in addition to repeated shots and photo mode also in the garage, but the question remains whether it will be for players after previous statements enough.

Another of the topics discussed in recent days was physics, on which Polyphony Digital is to work closely with the best players in the series. Jamauči talked to the editors of GT Planet about the behavior of the cars and confirmed that there will be an even more dramatic shift towards reality. “We have been constantly improving the physics in our game for 25 years. When playing GT 7, you will find that accuracy has increased [řízení] and everything seems more natural, “said the designer, adding that the mentioned advisors are, for example, competitors associated with the GT Academy program Igor Fraga or Mikail Hizal. Driving characteristics should then be affected by the weather system, which will change dynamically during the race. Yamauči explained to Eurogamer that although the GT 7 does not offer a simulation of the amount of rubber lumps remaining on the race track, it can offer, for example, a mechanism for calculating the water that will remain on the track after or during rain. state.

Because everything will be connected to the physical system, each pass of the car through the accumulated water will result in it being sprayed further, which, for example, will realistically dry the ideal race track faster than the rest of the track width. This will of course be reflected in the overall grip of the car and affect other variables, such as the temperature of the racing surface or tires. These are small things that can also be suppressed by using various assistants, for lovers of the series and those who like to lean towards simulators rather than arcades, this is good news and potentially an attraction to look forward to Gran Turismo 7.

The latest snippet of new information is a short 30-second video that demonstrates the quality of the Porsche racing specials. Shots bordering on automobile porn, they look great and directly attract the legendary 917 race car and many others. Gran Turismo 7 will arrive on both PS5 and PS4 on March 4, 2022 and will require a permanent internet connection, even when playing a single-player campaign.
