Google’s Cursive app is coming to more Chromebooks

You may not be familiar with it yet, but last year Google introduced the Cursive app. That app is for note taking, and it’s coming to more Chromebooks now.

Cursive is a web application for ChromeOS (not like the Notes app) that allows you to process handwritten notes. The app also works offline, which is very useful if, for example, you want to take notes on the plane in preparation for a presentation or interview. Many Chromebooks can already handle it well, but Google has announced that it is now also coming to Chromebooks that work with a stylus.

However, there will also be adjustments to Cursive, which should make the app better. Think of a screen magnifier that you can resize (with the screen following the cursor), as well as a warning if you’re about to use a USB-C cable that won’t work with an external display.

USB-C

Not everyone knows, but a USB-C cable is not always intended for this. Often they are only able to transfer or upload simple files, for example, not so much to transfer images. Now it is usually indicated on the cable, but you can just miss that. Cursive helps you point that out.

That is very nice for Chromebooks, although the app also works largely on other systems besides Chromebooks. The only downside is that on another device you only have permission to read notes instead of editing them or uploading them new.

Cursive appeared for the first time on the HP Chromebook X2 11 and more and more devices are now being added. Cursive itself is also being expanded. For example, Google promises to make more improvements to Cursive in the coming months. This includes functions to adjust the thickness and color of your notes and drawings. Do you want it too? You can find the extension here.

With these upcoming features, Cursive sounds like an app that is getting more and more comprehensive and is likely to gain popularity as a result. Are you already using it? Leave your comment on this article.
